Here is the lower road on the campground loop. You can see here that is is under water. About 3 feet under water. If the low water bridge had been constructed differently and there was not a dip in the road here, we would not have this problem. This shouldn’t happen very often, but we […]

Dozer Time II
February 12, 2008
Here’s where we left off last time. This is a Caterpillar D6D - it is a powerful machine. He (Dave) had to cut a little off the bank so he could get up there easier. It is steeper than it looks in the picture. This is where the road to our house will be. I […]
Monday Weather - Mostly Icy with Variable Iciness
February 11, 2008
For the ladies…
Grass. Covered with ice.
Grass. Covered with ice. Close up.
Some sort of bush. Covered with ice.

Some sort of bush. Covered with ice. Closer up.
I know this looks like the same bush covered with ice. But it is not. This is a different bush covered with ice.

Water Over the Bridge
February 11, 2008
When I went out to the property the other day to meet the "bulldozer guy," I noticed the water was up about a foot or so and flowing over the low water bridge.
The water was only about 4 inches deep on the bridge - safe enough to drive over.
Here’s the view from the other side […]
Dozer Time

We also grabbed lunch on the way. We parked the truck at the main […]
Finley Park Dam
January 27, 2008
Do you remember this picture of the Finley Park Dam? That was Tuesday, January 8th, the morning after we got 3.5 inches of rain overnight. That is a lot of water!
Monday, January 21st… 13 days later. Almost back down to normal.
That water is cold. Very cold. Do you wanna take a dip?
Oh yeah… let me […]
Ice at the Finley River
January 23, 2008
Remember that I said I am always up for an adventure? I am sure the people that put this sign up were just referring to thin ice, right? Wouldn’t that be fun to walk on? I may be a bit heavy, but the kids…
Jill had a great idea. Maybe we should throw rocks on it […]
Hiking at the White Tanks
January 14, 2008
As I was looking through the Bettendorf Photo Archives, I discovered these pictures of the kids hiking at the White Tank Mountains. I used to take the kids there often; it was only 10 minutes from the house. These pictures are from three different hikes we went on back in 2004. During the Spring it […]
